WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER: Set Boundaries for Yourself – Pop Psychologist Reveals How

Do you have problems setting boundaries?

Dr. Julie Smith, a psychologist with over 3.8 million TikTok followers, says that setting boundaries is about making decisions for yourself, and accepting that other people might not like your decisions.

If you have to betray yourself in order to be liked by someone else, then it’s not a healthy relationship,” Dr. Smith says.  Accepting your own needs, knowing they are just as important as everyone else’s are, is also key.  Smith says you should not over-explain your decisions.

Smith explains:  “All that over-explaining yourself chips away at your self-confidence, because it reconfirms your belief that other people need to buy into those reasons for them to be valid.”

And when you do, others wonder why you’ve got to explain yourself so much, then possibly doubt you a bit more.
