Thomas Rhett shared a couple of father tricks, recently (like not wearing a shirt when holding his young son), and how an attempt to play Tarzan left him with a bruised tailbone.  Rhett was on the Kelly Clarkson Show.  She got a little emotional, when Rhett shared his family’s adoption story, though.

Rhett’s wife, Lauren Akins told the story of the adoption of her daughter, Willa Grace.  Akins’ mother, who was adopted, put the idea into Lauren about adopting.  So, when she traveled to Uganda with the 147 Million Orphans in 2016 she met Willa, and knew instantly she needed to find her “a forever home.” “…the second I touched her, it was, like, electric,” said Lauren. “I was like, ‘Oh my word. This little girl has just taken my heart.’ I was like, ‘Honey, we’ve gotta find her her forever home. Like, I know that’s why I’m here is to get this girl to her home.'”  Listening to Lauren’s story, Clarkson began to cry.  The mother of two children, herself, Kelly said she could relate:  “It’s so beautiful because I know that feeling.  As a mama, you touch them and you hug them.  It doesn’t matter if it’s yours or not.”
