This Saturday at 1pm there will be a dedication to officially open the Forgotten War Memorial in Channahon.

The Forgotten Warrior Memorial Wall is a tribute to all of the veterans who have served in the United States Armed Services afflicted with PTSD and sacrificed their lives beyond the limits of active duty. This beautiful memorial in the scenic Channahon State Park will contain a monument honoring the five branches of the U.S. Military and will formally recognize the veterans who have passed away from a PTSD-related death/suicide and commemorate their service and forever remember them as casualties of war. Mayor Missey Moorman Schumacher stated,  “This one-of-a-kind memorial will provide a place for family members, other veterans, and the public to honor those service men and women whose injuries, while perhaps not physically apparent, were no less devastating.”

K9s For Veteran Warriors, NFP feels it is their duty to honor these Warriors who were not able to get the help they needed to survive. “We now honor those who have lost their lives to the war that continued to be fought after returning home. They must never be forgotten. Please join us in honoring these patriots.” K9s For Veteran Warriors hopes this monument will help the families affected by PTSD by having a place to honor their loved ones and know they will never be forgotten.
