Do Dogs Get Better Medical Care than Cats?
Study:  Dogs Receive More Care Than Cats
Yes:  Research covering three European countries reveals that pet owners spent more on dogs than cats; but attitudes toward canines, versus felines, varied by country.

Scientists in Denmark surveyed 2,117 residents of Denmark, Austria, and the United Kingdom.  Participants answered questions about pet care and how much they would pay at the vet.

In all three countries, pet owners were willing to spend more on dogs.  But the difference was marginal in the United Kingdom.

While people care more about their dogs than their cats in all countries, the degree of difference varied dramatically between countries,” Dr. Peter Sandøe of the University of Copenhagen said.

Some researchers speculate that additional studies of other countries could find higher levels of attachment to cats.
