Olive Oil Could Save Your Life. Here’s HOW.

Study:  Less Than a Tablespoon of Olive Oil Lowers Death Risk
You might want to add a bit of olive oil to your diet. Harvard researchers found that people who added one-half tablespoon or more to their diet daily had a 19 percent lower risk for death from heart disease compared to people who rarely or never consumed olive oil.
Olive oil consumers were also 17 percent less likely to die from cancer, 18 percent less likely to die from lung disease, and 29 percent less likely to die from a neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Plus, substituting 10 grams, or just under one tablespoon per day of olive oil, for the same amount of margarine, butter, mayonnaise, or dairy, lowered a person’s risk for early death from all causes by up to 34 percent.
However, this was not the case when olive oil was substituted for other vegetable oils.

Turns out that Olive Oyle and Popeye were really teaching us about two of the healthiest foods:  olive oil and spinach.
