Tracy Chapman Lands First Academy Of Country Music Awards Nomination

Tracy Chapman received her first Academy of Country Music Awards nomination for her iconic song “Fast Car,” which has seen a resurgence in popularity thanks to country star Luke Combs’ rendition.

Combs leads the ACM Awards with eight nominations, including his version of “Fast Car.” Chapman expressed gratitude for the song’s success and Combs’ contribution to its resurgence.

Chapman, the first Black woman songwriter to top the Country Airplay chart, has seen a significant increase in streaming and royalties for “Fast Car” following Combs’ cover.

Chapman is nominated for Song of the Year alongside Luke Combs. The ACM Awards air on May 16th at 7:00 pm CDT, live from Frisco, Texas, and streaming on Prime.

Combs and Chapman are going up against Lainey Wilson (Heart of a Truck), Jordan Davis (Next Thing You Know), Megan Moroney (Tennessee Orange), and Cody Johnson (The Painter).
