100% Remission Rate? Stellar Cancer Study Gets Oncologists Optimistic about Treatment

A small cancer drug study has oncologists wondering about broader applications.
A Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center study on rectal cancer showed a 100% remission rate, an absolutely stellar result.
The approach used, a type of immunotherapy, is effective against certain tumors, without surgery.
“I’m excited when you see such a dramatic response,” Julie Gralow, chief medical officer of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, said. “It gives me hope we can find such a dramatic match for other cancers, too.”
