Reba McEntire Nearly Quit Music When her Mom Died – Here’s Why

Reba McEntire‘s music career was on the brink of collapse following the tragic loss of her mother.

Jacqueline McEntire passed away in March 2020 at 93…  This was after a courageous battle with cancer.

The grief, for Reba, was incredibly intense, to the point where it nearly caused the star to consider giving up her entertainment career – music, TV, Broadway, all of it.

During a recent visit to Today, McEntire shared the emotional journey she experienced with her siblings, Alice, Pake, and Susie, as they navigated the grieving process.

We were cleaning out the house, and I was going through pictures.  I said, ‘I just don’t think I wanna do this anymore,’” the “I’m a Survivor” singer recalls saying to her sister, Susie.

Reba told her sister she had sung for her mother.  “She said, ‘Oh, you’ll get it back.’  I did,” said Reba.
