Crossroads: Dolly Parton and Melissa Etheridge

Dolly Parton and Melissa Etheridge are teaming up for an episode of CMT Crossroads – where they will perform Parton’s hit, “I Will Always Love You.”

Parton wrote the ballad in 1973, as a farewell to her business partner, Porter Wagoner.  But it sure works as a lullaby…  And it has worked well for other performers.

I Will Always Love You,” hit the top of the Billboard Hot Country Chart in June 1974 – and in October 1982.

Whitney Houston made it a major pop sensation, as the theme for her mega-hit movie, The Bodyguard, with Kevin Costner.  Dolly says that version made her the most money.

The original CMT Crossroads with Parton and Etheridge aired last month.  But the energy between the two musicians will live, on forever.
