AMC movie theaters are getting ready to reopen this week. They want to let people know their plan for keeping theaters as COVID-free as possible. – Guests can book tickets ahead of time for reserved seating in order to remain contactless. – Masks will be required for all guests and employees. But, if you’re eating popcorn or sucking down a soda, you can take your mask down. – The theaters now have enhanced cleaning procedures, using HEPA filter vacuums, MERV 13 air filters, and employees will disinfect auditoriums with electrostatic disinfectant sprayers before each showtime. – Seating in auditoriums will be physically distant, leaving room between seats and groups of people AMC did note that they are spending a sizable amount of money to enact its new cleaning practices, and that they can’t eat all the costs, so some of those costs will be passed on to the consumer.
