FRISKY FRIDAY FAILS: What Gives Us ‘The Ick’ When We’re Looking for a Partner?
What absolutely turns you off?  And what really, actually, gives you a little bit of a sick feeling?
Greeting card seller Thortful surveyed 2,000 men and women on their “icks.”  And, it’s different for, what I like to call, “the Pink Team and the Blue Team.”
Just over half (52%) of women said bad hygiene put them off.  And more than one in three (37%) were unimpressed by arrogance.  Women also said bad breath, spitting, and rude behavior with hospitality staff gave them the dreaded “ick.”

What about the guys?  43% of men also cited bad hygiene as “icky.”  16% don’t like crude jokes.  And 14% do not appreciate a baby voice.

Clinical psychologist Dr. Leslie Feil says the “ick” feeling, itself, is more common in people who have an avoidant attachment style:  “They may suddenly feel repulsed, because they’re afraid of getting to the next step with the other person.”
