Bad news if you’ve had food delivered by DoorDash: The online service has revealed vital information for nearly 5 million customers has been exposed in a security breach.
Making the announcement Thursday, DoorDash execs said an unauthorized third party hacked into its system on May 4th, gaining access to names, email addresses, physical addresses, phone numbers and partial credit card numbers. In addition to its customers, information on the company’s drivers and merchants was also sacrificed.
DoorDash officials say customers who joined after April 5th, 2018 have not been compromised. Nevertheless, they’re advising all users to change their passwords as a precaution. The company has set up a 24 hour hotline for more information: 855–646–4683.
Why do the people responsible for such huge data breaches never seem to get busted? What do you do to protect yourself from online criminals?
