Here we go, The Cubs and Sox are ready to tangle for the first of 4 games this season with the first 2 at Wrigley Field. The Cubs come home after a dismal 2-5 roadtrip. The White Sox actually have played pretty well as of late splitting 4 games with the Yankees and Splitting their brief 2-game series with the Nationals. White Sox fans you can brag about this, The teams have played 118 regular-season games against each other and the Sox have the better record: 60-58. Overall the White Sox are 34-36, the Cubs are 39-32 (1/2 game out of first place in the NL Central)

The Cubs and White Sox in partnership with Wintrust Financial Corporation announced a multiyear sponsorship of the Crosstown Series now officially named the “Wintrust Crosstown Series.” As part of the partnership, the two teams and Wintrust will host pregame festivities ahead of the June 18-19 games with Hall of Famers Harold Baines and Lee Smith. On June 18, fans also are encouraged to stop by Gallagher Way ahead of the first game at 5 p.m. to test their Wintrust Crosstown Series trivia skills against Baines and Smith. Fans who are selected to participate in trivia and get the answer correct will be entered into a random drawing. The winner of the random drawing will win two tickets to all four Wintrust Crosstown Series games with The W Club access for June 18-19 and Goose Island seats for July 6-7, the opportunity to throw the first pitch at the June 18 Cubs-White Sox game, a lineup card exchange experience at the July 6 White Sox-Cubs game and a signed baseball from Baines and Smith. Before the June 19 game, the Wintrust Crosstown Series pregame festivities will include an autograph signing with Smith, a live performance by Nick Bell Band, photo opportunities and more.

With a team off-day on Monday, the White Sox will skip Manny Banuelos and go with Nova on regular rest to open the two-game set against the Cubs. Nova has a 3-1 record with a 5.13 ERA lifetime in five starts at Wrigley Field.

Cole Hamels LHP 6–2, 2.98 ERA, 83 SO

Hamels is coming off seven shutout innings in Colorado, where he struck out nine and walked one. The lefty has a 0.00 ERA over his last three turns, with one unearned run in 22 innings. Hamels has 23 strikeouts, four walks and a .381 opponents’ OPS in that span.

Lucas Giolito RHP 10–1, 2.22 ERA, 95 SO

Giolito has won eight straight starts and is 9-0 over his last 11 trips to the mound after shutting down the Yankees on Friday. Giolito has a 0.94 ERA with 65 strikeouts over 57 1/3 innings during the eight-start win streak.

Jon Lester LHP 5–5, 4.08 ERA, 69 SO

Lester gave up six runs (via three two-run homers) in a five-inning loss to the Dodgers on Thursday. The lefty has a 7.59 ERA in his last six outings. In 17 career games against the White Sox, Lester is 9-6 with a 4.13 ERA.
