Would You Eat Something Gross to Cure your Food Allergy?
Study:  Would You Eat Something Gross to Cure your Food Allergy?

Researchers believe a bacteria called butyrate can help cure food allergies…  But it smells and tastes like literal poop.

University of Chicago researchers were able to cure mice of a peanut allergy using the compound, as butyrate helps the body build tolerance of foods.

Experimenting with humans is another matter, though, because of that terrible taste:  The oral substance is said to smell and taste like dog poop, or rancid butter.

So, scientists are now struggling to create the compound in a more palatable form.

32 million Americans currently suffer from a food allergy.  And 3 million of those are peanut allergies.
