Study Shows Women Are Just as Competitive As Men – But Are More Likely to Share
Is it true, this “’relatively new theory,’ that women are less competitive and less willing to take risks than men”?
The associate director of the Arizona Center for the Philosophy of Freedom has found that the theory is invalid.
Mary Rigdon says that 238 participants were divided into two groups, based on gender.  Participants were asked to solve math problems.  Then they had “the option of choosing a guaranteed prize for a correct result, a larger prize if they were a top performer, or a larger prize with the option to share the winnings with the losers.”
The study found that women entered competitions at the same rate as men; but that 60% of women chose to compete, when they could share their winnings, compared with only 52.5% of men.
