Who Are We Happier Spending Time with: Family? Or Friends?

A new study finds that we are happier when we’re spending time with friends, than when we’re spending time with our families.  But there’s a catch:  The main reason is because the majority of things we do with our friends is fun, but with our families, we also do stuff that’s not fun, like chores.

Hey, here’s something that you’re not supposed to say out loud.

According to a new study, out of Southern Methodist University in Texas, people are happier when they’re spending time with their friends than when they’re spending time with their families.  Yes, that includes their partner and their children.

In fact, we’re the LEAST happy when we’re spending time with our husband or wife.

But there’s one big catch.  The researchers say the main thing that makes us happy is WHAT we’re doing, when we’re spending time with different people.

The majority of time we spend with friends involves doing something fun.  And yeah, we do fun stuff with our families . . . but we’re also with them when we’re doing things we don’t like as much, like chores.
