Turns Out There Already Is a ‘Lady A’ – and She Doesn’t Want to Give Up Her Name

Country hitmakers Lady Antebellum announced that they would rebrand as Lady A , to move beyond the moniker’s racial undertones.

But it turns out the group’s plan may have hit a snag:  there’s already a Black blues singer, by that same name.  Speaking to Rolling Stone, the Seattle-based Anita White, said, “This is my life.  Lady A is my brand, I’ve used it for over 20 years, and I’m proud of what I’ve done.”

Telling the publication that she intends to call a lawyer, White added, “I’m not about to stop using my name.  For them to not even reach out is pure privilege. I’m not going to lay down and let this happen to me.”
