Tim McGraw Says He’s No Truck Expert – But his Truck Song Is Now his 45th #1 Hit
Tim McGraw tops the Country Aircheck/Mediabase chart this week with “7500 OBO.” He shared the news on social media, yesterday, (Monday, July 18th) by writing, “Thanx Country Radio for making “7500 OBO” the #1 record this week. We’ve got new music coming soon! Buckle in!!”
This is Tim’s 45th career Number One hit, according to Country Now.
As a car enthusiast, Tim was immediately drawn to “7500 OBO;” but he admits that while he’s tried to, becoming a good mechanic is just not in his wheelhouse. “No, God no. When I was a kid I used to. In fact, I had a ‘70 Ford pick-up truck, and one summer I got bored, and so I took the whole engine out, and took everything apart, and put it all back together; and I had a whole bucket of stuff left over. But it still ran. It still ran great. Nothing didn’t not work, so I don’t know what all the extra parts were that I had left over. But no, I’m not a mechanic by any means.”
“7500 OBO” is included on Tim’s 2020 Here on Earth album. It has a riff in it from (and a lyrical reference to) one of McGraw’s early hits, “Where the Green Grass Grows.”
