Study: Boys Born Very Prematurely May Age Faster as Men

Boys who are born, weighing less than two pounds, don’t age as well as their normal-weight peers.  So shows a new study.
Canadian researchers have followed a group of extremely low birth weight babies, and their normal-weight counterparts, since 1977.  They looked at the participants in their early 30’s…  And, after accounting for health issues which could affect the results, they found that the men who were born prematurely were biologically five years older than the men who born at the same time, at what was considered a normal weight.
This difference was not found among women.  Researchers theorize this could be due to biological stresses in the womb, and then in the newborn intensive care unit.
