She’s a country music icon, and pretty soon you’ll be able to smell her success. Dolly Parton plans a signature scent, which she’ll debut this Spring, as part of a full line of cosmetics and more.
Parton has partnered with Edge Beauty (in a deal brokered by IMG) to develop all the kinds of products she relies on to maintain her own, specific image of beauty. “I’m going to do it,” she told ELLE. “I’m going to get there. It’s one of my dreams — the makeup, hair, and wigs, clothes, all of that sort of thing.” Pop Culture reports that the products will be distributed across several markets, from TV sales to specialty stores, to drugstores; and that they will range from luxury items to mass-appeal perfumed goods. The CEO of Edge told WWD that there will be a variety of price-points: “We firmly believe that Dolly Parton is at the center of American culture and that she crosses political divides, generations, emotional sensibilities, gender, and we believe she’s the true nucleus of American culture today,” he added. “She’s someone without pretense, she’s a self-made woman, she’s incredibly generous, and she’s beautiful. As a marketer, she also has a great understanding of how to reach her fans.”
Dolly, who’s 74, says her “trademark” wigs are coming, too: “Wigs are just so handy,” she said. “I’m so busy, and I have so many choices. I never have a bad hair day, and that’s a good thing.”
Don’t be surprised if you see home goods, as well…
