Professor Dierks is “Redesigning” the Highwomen in new comic clip

Low Country Sound/Elektra RecordsIt was only a matter of time before a man put his spin on The Highwomen‘s new single “Redesigning Women.” And it’s no coincidence it’s Dierks Bentley, who’s a good friend of the all-female supergroup.

In a new YouTube video, Dierks gives a dramatic reading of the lyrics to the debut song by Maren Morris, songwriter Natalie Hemby, and Americana Grammy-winners Brandi Carlile and Amanda Shires.

For the comic clip, Dierks goes all out, dressing the part in a button-down shirt and corduroy blazer, wearing wire-rimmed glasses and chewing on a pipe as he sits in a leather, wing-backed chair in a wood-paneled library.

It’s worth watching to see the faux-serious Dierks read lines like “breaking every Jello mold,” and then interrupt himself to question, “Jello shot?”

“Our friend Dierks Bentley’s interpretation of our song ‘Redesigning Women’ is something special,” the Highwomen tweeted. “We love you, Dierks!”

Dierks has previously recorded duets with two of the Highwomen on his past couple records. Maren Morris sang “I’ll Be the Moon” with him on 2016’s Black, while Brandi Carlile joined him for “Travelin’ Light” on last year’s The Mountain.

The full-length, self-titled debut album by The Highwomen is set to arrive September 6.
