These penguins are giving their caregivers the cold shoulder!
The Hakone-en Aquarium, near Tokyo, has switched to a cheaper mackerel for their penguins, due to rising cost, as a result of inflation. But these birds aren’t having it.
The zookeepers say the penguins spit out the fish; or they will sometimes eat the cheaper fish – if it’s mixed in with the more expensive aji.
The otters have also shown a preference for the fancy fish. But the penguins are more formally dressed for dinner.
