Old Dominion‘s self-titled third album is coming October 25, the band revealed Monday on ABC’s Good Morning America, before performing their latest hit, “One Man Band.”
“We have wanted it out as bad as [the fans] have,” Matthew Ramsey tells ABC Radio, “so it’s nice to be able to give them something to look forward to.”
But what took ’em so long?
“Oh, I think it’s just the process, like trying to figure out all the pieces of the puzzle to put together,” Geoff Sprung answers, as Matthew laughs. “…The recording portion’s been done since earlier in the year. But there’s just such a big organization, it takes a lot of steps.”
Fans can take heart, though, because Matthew promises there’s more new music coming before the record drops.
“The plan is to kinda continually leak out some of the album,” he explains. “It is a bit of a wait still for the whole album to come out. So we just want to give them a little taste here and there.”
Matthew goes on to tease that the album is the best picture so far of the CMA and ACM Vocal Group of the Year.
“I think it’s why we we self-titled it, because it sounds the most like us,” he reflects. “And I think we’re a little bit more personal as far as songwriting goes, and just a little bit more deliberate in the making of the whole thing. Every sound we made on it was a true choice. So we’re very proud of it.”
Since the album is self-titled, could this be the first one where the band actually appears on the cover?
“Oh, I think we’re still trying to figure that part out,” Geoff answers, as the two laugh.
