Michael Kopech Will Not Play for White Sox This Year, Pitching Coach Concerned

White Sox’ pitching coach Don Cooper is concerned about Michael Kopech’s decision to not play baseball this season. The Sun Times reports the decision remains a mystery because the young flamerthrower hasn’t spoken to Cooper or his teammates. Cooper says he hopes Kopech is ok because the right-hander has dealt with anxiety and depression. Kopech has been open about his mental health struggles in the past. He had Tommy John surgery last September, but was progressing, dominating the one inning he pitched in a Cactus League game during the shorten spring training. (Metro News)
