Maren Morris shares a letter to her infant son, Hayes, in a new video for “Better Than We Found It.”

Morris labels this as “a protest song.” She penned it for little Hayes.  And in it, she sings about the current state of the world.

In the video, three stories unfold, one of a young man, who is living in America, under the Dream Act, who is told he has to go back to Mexico.  Another shows two young women, who work as protest organizers.  Another tells of a black man who was killed by a Nashville police officer.

The video ends with Morris reading a letter to her 6-month-old, “Hayes, you were born the year the world stopped turning. The moment I first held you, we stared at each other for the longest time. I knew that very moment that you were special. My heart grew and would never be the same. You’ve been my precious silver lining these dark last few months.”
