Blue Chair/Warner Music NashvilleKenny Chesney’s new single — co-written with pop superstar Ed Sheeran — won’t arrive for a little more than a week, but he’s giving fans a preview on social media.

Kenny posted a brief, instrumental clip of “Tip of My Tongue” on his socials, along with the tease, “It’s gonna be a long summer.” The tag line also appears in industry ads for the song.

The snippet starts with a laid-back electric guitar groove, and then picks up intensity once the percussion kicks in.

“It’s funny how a figure of speech can lead you to all kinds of places,” Kenny says of the idea for the tune.

“You start talking, and words fall out, and anything can happen,” he continues. “When you go in and write on any given day, the chemistry is what it is. When the idea fell out, we all just laughed and went, ‘Well, what can we do with that?’”

“Tip of My Tongue” officialy arrives at 6 a.m. ET on Friday, July 12.
