Warner Music NashvilleIn the first tease for Blake Shelton’s new single, “Hell Right,” Trace Adkins urged him to “Tell ‘em that story you were telling me.”

Now we know how that story starts, thanks to the second clip of the song that Blake shared on his socials.

Earlier, Blake’s label hinted the new song is in the tradition of “Boys ‘Round Here” and his previous collab with Trace, “Hillbilly Bone” — and that seems to be the case.  But “Hell Right” may also be veering into rap territory.

“Couple boys clock out ‘bout 5:35/Trying to put a little hammer in their head,” Blake talk-sings on the new track. “Standing in the liquor store staring at a fifth/But they picked up a handle instead/Hell right.”

Previously, Blake tweeted a mock apology to country purists, hinting they might be offended by the song. You’ll be able to hear “Hell Right” in full on Friday.

Meanwhile, the new promo for the latest season of The Voice is out with Kelly Clarkson describing it as “the blondes against the bros, y’all.”

The preview plays up the fact that Blake’s now competing against his main squeeze, Gwen Stefani, as she replaces longtime coach Adam Levine. Kelly and Gwen square off against Blake and John Legend, starting September 23 on NBC.
