Illinois residents, get ready…the new gas tax goes into effect July 1st. That means the state will be taking 73 cents of every gallon you put in your tank. To put it into perspective, Missouri’s gas tax is 35 cents per gallon. It’s part of Govenor J.B. Pritzker’s attempt to balance the state budget. Patrick Dehaan, GasBuddy.com founder, said. “Illinois is going from one of the lower gas taxes in the region to one of the highest.”

We wonder how many people that live near the Indiana, Wisconsin, or Missouri border will be crossing over to get cheaper gas? Here’s the complete story from WGN-TV.
