IHSA: Basketball Can Start Now, Football On March 3rd for Phase 4 Counties

High school basketball and football are returning in Illinois. The Illinois High School Association announced yesterday that basketball season will start immediately and run until March 13th. Teams will need seven days of practice before they can play games, and the schools must be in COVID-19 regions that have reached Phase 4. Chicago and all of the suburban regions are currently not in Phase 4. Kendall, Grundy,, Lasalle, & Dekalb Counties are currently in Phase 4. Football teams can start practices on March 3rd and games on March 19th. Both sports won’t have a postseason.
