If you can get up the guts to ask somebody out, there’s actually a strategy you can use that will almost always get you a “yes.”
Dr. Chloe Carmichael says the key is to think of something you’d already be doing anyway, with or without the person you want to ask out, and then use that as the hook for the date. She recommends keeping this activity under 90 minutes, and make sure it has zero learning curve– as the higher the risk, the higher your chances of being turned down.
Her example, “Hey, there’s a new sushi place opening up. I’m thinking of trying it on Thursday. Want to join?” She explains that this way you’re basically saying, “I’m doing fun, cool things and giving you an opportunity to be part of them,” without applying pressure.
