Buddy Check 22: Veteran Suicide Awareness Scramble

September 17 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

<h1 class="tribe-events-single-event-title">Buddy Check 22: Veteran Suicide Awareness Scramble</h1>

Our mission is to awareness to the unacceptable Veteran suicide rate of 22 per day and reduce that number to 0, via our BC 22: VSA Golf Scramble. This is our 7th Annual event and, we are told, it has become the favored event of the season. We also have several raffle prizes & silent auction items, as well a a steak dinner as part of the day. We have many, dedicated individual, as well as corporate / industrial / commercial supporters that have made this a tremendous success over the last 6 years. We are made up of a 7 member, volunteer board; our Founder who is an 8 yr Army Engineer Vet & her husband who is a 26 yr Army Engineer Vet & a 4 yr Vietnam Vet as well as 4 of us civilians. This has become a labor of love for all of us. While we are not all Vets, it is a privilege to serve those Heroes who served us. 100% of all net proceeds go to support our own 2 programs in conjunction with Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee; Well In Mind, unlimited, no-charge mental health counseling sessions for the Vet and their support network as well as our Veteran Recognition / Honor walk. We provide Gov. Spec casket flags with triangular presentation boxes to the hospital. When a Vet is admitted, a flag is placed outside their room to identify their presence. Should the Vet pass while admitted, the flag is removed from the box a draped over the Vet. As they make their trip to the morgue, any on-duty Riverside employed Vet will come to the hallway at attention and salute the Vet as their body passes. The flag stays with them until burial, when it is presented to the family. The additional proceeds are donated to area partner Vet organizations who also deal with Vet’s suffering from PTSD, TBI, homelessness and / or societal disengagement.

Our 4somes are selling out quickly, so anyone interested needs to contact Don Ball at the 815-953-8543. If you wish to help our cause, ANY size donation is gratefully accepted. You can send us a check or we can do contactless credit card charges by also contacting Don by phone or E-Mail [email protected]

We, and the Heroes we serve, are eternally grateful for any donation of money or product you may offer.
