This is an 18 hole Golf Scramble with a shot-gun start. 100% of all net proceeds are donated to Vet assistance programs that deal with Vets suffering form PTSD, TBI and Homelessness. Or mission is to bring awareness to the Vet’s plight and return them to as normal a civilian life as possible. A portion of funds are also used to maintain our own two initiatives in conjunction with Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee, IL; Well In Mind and the Vet Recognition / Honor Walk programs. The 1st is our Well In Mind program that provides no-charge, confidential mental heath counseling sessions to the Vet and their support system. The 2nd is the Vet Recognition / Honor Walk program. For this program we purchase and provide Gov. Spec American casket flags with triangular presentation boxes to the hospital. When a Vet is admitted, a flag in the box is placed immediately outside the Vet’s hospital room (Vet Recognition). Should the Vet pass-on while in the hospital, the flag is removed from the box and draped over the Vet’s body. During the transport of the Vet through the hospital, any on-duty Vet, that is employed by Riverside, comes to the hallway to stand at attention while the Vet passes to the morgue. The flag stays with them until burial, when it is presented to the family.
The above programs are why we have these golf outings. This is why any donation, big or small, is so important to us.
