“Drowning”: Two years later, country continues to grieve over Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting
ABC/Mark LevineTwo years after the largest mass shooting in modern American history, many of the country stars who were present at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas are pausing to remember a day that changed their lives forever.
Jason Aldean was playing the concert’s final set when gunfire broke out.
“This will always be a tough day for us,” he posted on his socials. “Not a day goes by that we don’t think about our @Route91Harvest family.”
Jake Owen echoed his sentiments.
“There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t count my blessings and also think about the 58 men and women who lost their lives a couple years ago on October 1st,” he reflected. “Sending my thoughts, prayers and love to all those out there that have felt the loss and effects of that night. Love u.”
Chris Young’s latest song, “Drowning,” is about dealing with the loss of someone close to you. He recently recorded the performance part of his music video at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas, as audience members held up their phones to honor those lost in the shooting.
“This day will always be hard for me… remembering everyone that lost their lives on this date at Route 91,” Chris shared. “Scariest night of my life. Hug your friends and loved ones today guys.”
Last month, MGM Resorts announced that it plans to build a community and athletic center on the site where the shooting took place.
