Dierks Bentley appeared on NBC’s Today show yesterday (Thursday, August 1st) to perform a few songs for the crowd gathered outside the Rockefeller Center studio and wound up adopting a dog. He joined the show’s hosts during the third hour to celebrate “Dog-ust First,” a universal birthday for all shelter dogs whose birthdays are unknown. Dierks was holding a puppy from the Muddy Paws shelter named Goose, which turns out is the singer’s nickname for one of his kids. By the end of the segment, Dierks made the decision to adopt Goose. He shared an Instagram video of himself carrying Goose out of the NYC studio. Dierks said their next stop was Darien Center, NY, his stop last night on his Burning Man Tour. Fans at the show likely got to meet Goose as Dierks said he was going to bring the dog out on stage.

Welcome to the family Goose/Garrett (there was some confusion on which of the brothers he was….). That’s a wrap on @todayshow. Thanks….I think?! Off to @petco and then meet up with #burningmantour A post shared by Dierks Bentley (@dierksbentley) on Aug 1, 2019 at 8:02am PDT
