Chicago woman, 104, breaks world skydiving record

At 104 years old, Ruth Hoffner became the oldest person to skydive in the US, surpassing the achievement of a 103-year-old Swedish woman. * A large community of family and friends gathered at Skydive Chicago in Ottawa to show support. * Hoffner said the experience was “wonderful” and a large crowd cheered for her as she landed. * Fellow divers said she was an inspiration and Hoffner said she doesn’t consider herself a daredevil. * Hoffner grew up in Humboldt Park and now lives at an assisted-living facility along the lakefront. * Hoffner said she’d love to jump again but wants to ride on a hot air balloon next.
