Carly Pearce is set to perform her song, “I Hope You’re Happy Now” on Wednesday evening’s CMAs – but it almost didn’t happen.

Pearce was set to perform with Lee Brice…  But, when he tested positive for COVID, he bowed out of the performance.

I almost wrecked my car,” Pearce tells Taste of Country.  “I was just like, ‘What is happening?‘”  Besides Brice, Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard also won’t be at the CMAs because he, too, has COVID.

Brice isn’t experiencing any symptoms.  But this left Pearce to find a new duet partner:  Charles Kelly.  “I kinda held my breath…like, ‘Please Lord, let him be able to do it,’” says Pearce.

I Hope Your Happy Now” was meant to be performed as a duet, says Pearce, “We all felt like you just miss a part of the story if you don’t have that male voice to it.”
