NFL’s Free agency period is about to get crazy. Teams can negotiate but not officially sign players until Wednesday but ESPN is reporting the Bears will sign the best available Wide Receiver on the market Allen Robinson who played his first 3 years with the Jacksonville Jaquars. Barring any last-minute snags when free agency opens Wednesday, he told ESPN’s Josina Anderson late Monday night he will sign a 3 year/ $42 million dollar deal with the Bears. There’s good and bad, Robinson is only 24 years old, But, he is coming off a torn left ACL suffered on the third offensive play of the 2017 season opener at Houston. He had a monster year in 2015, with 80 catches for 1,400 yards and a franchise-record 14 touchdown receptions. The Bears will need to grab another couple of Wide Receivers either thru Free Agency and The Draft which is next month or both.
Here’s more from ESPN.
Look for the Bears to also target a young 26 year-old Slot Receiver Albert Wilson who played last year for Bears Coach Matt Nagy with the Kansas City Chiefs. There are some other free agent options like Donte Moncrief who played for the Colts. The pool of Wide Receivers in the NFL draft is said to be pretty deep. The Bears could snag a speedy downfield threat in the 2nd or 4th rounds of the draft too.
